Planting and Planning: It’s Go Time!

planting and planning

Open your window– do you hear all the birds chirping? Yes, it’s spring! So many exciting things happen in springtime right in your own backyard. It’s time to take a look at the clear skies, the flowers blooming everywhere, and let the tension of the last year go. What can you do to take advantage of this magnificent season? Planting and planning go hand in hand and it’s time for both. Here are some great suggestions to make this spring extra special and meaningful for you.

Dig in the Dirt

Of course, the Plantscapers team is focused on plant life. Make sure spring comes early by planting a flower bed with plants that love to bloom early. Get your gardening gloves on and play in the dirt. Gardening is a wildly popular pastime, with benefits for you and the planet. You will feel great afterward, especially after you watch your garden grow.  Spring is the time to plant plants that thrive in warm months like geraniums, marigolds, impatiens, petunias, azaleas, crocus, and more. Plant in the garden, pots, and hanging baskets.

Plant Your Victory Garden

What’s better than the farmer’s market? Your own backyard or patio. Now is the time to plant your own sustainable food source filled with tomatoes, peppers, blueberries, herbs, and more. All you need is an area in the garden or even pots that receives at least six hours of sunshine.

Start with your veggies. Now is the time to start tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, eggplant–all the vegetables you love to harvest come summer. When planting, be sure to amend the native soil at a 50/50 ratio with E.B. Stone Flower and Vegetable Planting Mix to break up the soil and add needed nutrients your veggies will need to produce an abundant harvest.

Clean out Closets

Talk about the real spring cleaning! Clearing out old items that you no longer use can open up space in your mind and closet.  Make three piles in all your closets: donate, throw out, or keep. It’s that simple.  If I haven’t worn an item in six months, it has to go! This will make you feel so clean and enriched, and you will help others in need by your donation.

Don’t stop there. Go to your cupboards, under your bathroom sink, even that spice cabinet (yes, spices have an expiration date, and it’s shorter than you think!).

Make Holiday Plans

I know it might sound crazy, but the winter holidays are only months away, so start thinking about what you want to do this holiday. Do you want to travel or have a huge family gathering? Maybe you want to volunteer somewhere. Or use this time for R&R and just relax. It’s your time to plan what is best for you and your family and or friends. Please give it some serious thought, as this year is extra special since we have been locked down for over a year. Make it special for you!

Spring is a time for planting and planning. Take the time to get these things done. Put on your favorite inspirational music and go to town. You will feel so overjoyed and efficient, I promise. Until the next season….
