This indigo hue reminds us of steadfast things—the sky at dusk, a well-tailored blue suit, a tranquil sea, or a bowl of blueberries, bursting with sweetness.

Many gathering spaces utilize the calming effects of blue, including hospitals and hotels. Now, this tactic is finding its way into our homes and offices as well, in the form of paint colors, upholstery, and decor accents.
So how do you harness the calming power of classic blue in your environment? As Eiseman states, Classic Blue conjures feelings of nature—the sea and sky. Bringing the outside in is a great way to harness this energy. Water features can provide a soothing background for both the ears and eyes. Incorporate a fountain into a lobby or living area to bring softness and movement to the space, as well as encouraging relaxation and meditation.
Another way to incorporate Classic Blue is through indoor plantings using planters in the color. Gorgeous specimen plants could be placed in tall Asian Ceramics containers. Against a cream or white background, the accent would bring a pop of color while maintaining a clean silhouette. Or try a wide blue basin filled with succulents. The blue-ish grey leaves will play well with deep colors like Classic Blue.
