President’s Message:

As the curtains closed on the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina, I am filled with pride and inspiration from the extraordinary performances that unfolded on the world stage. This year’s Games were a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through teamwork, resilience, and unwavering dedication. So inspirational!

If you didn’t have the opportunity to catch the Olympics on television as they seemed to come and go in the blink of an eye, here’s a brief recap to relive the highlights. I hope it rekindles a sense of pride and reminds us why we are so grateful to call ourselves Americans.

Our athletes competed with heart, spirit, and a relentless commitment that brought immense pride to our nation. Team USA finished the Games with 33 total medals, including a record-setting 12 gold medals, marking our most successful Winter Olympics in terms of golds ever. Overall, we placed second in both gold and total medals among the 92 competing nations, a testament to the depth and strength of our winter sports programs.

Teamwork and Resilience on Display

Throughout the competition, Team USA embodied the true Olympic spirit. From seasoned veterans to rising stars, our athletes overcame challenges, defied expectations, and pushed beyond their limits.

There were countless moments that showcased resilience like athletes bouncing back from injury, breaking long-standing droughts in traditionally elusive events, and delivering clutch performances when it mattered most. These individuals didn’t just compete, they inspired.

A Human Story: Men’s Hockey Triumph

One of my all-time most unforgettable stories of these Games was the U.S. men’s hockey team and their journey to gold, an achievement that resonates far beyond the rink.

In a dramatic gold-medal final against Canada, Team USA defeated a fierce rival 2-1 in overtime, with Jack Hughes scoring the winning goal just 1:41 into the extra session. This victory delivered the first Olympic men’s hockey gold for the United States since the legendary “Miracle on Ice” in 1980, bridging decades of aspiration to arrive at a historic high-water mark.

What made this triumph truly remarkable was not just the scoreline, but the story behind it a group of athletes who trusted one another, leaned on each other in adversity, and played as a collective unit when pressure was highest. Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck stood tall with 41 saves, exemplifying calm resilience in the face of relentless pressure. The team’s cohesion, grit, and shared purpose were on full display, reminding us that success is truly a team achievement.

What made this team even more special was the bond that extended beyond the locker room. The roster included two sets of brothers, a rare and powerful reminder that family, trust, and lifelong connection were woven directly into the fabric of the team. Watching brothers compete side-by-side on the world’s biggest stage was a testament to shared dreams, shared sacrifice, and the strength that comes from growing together, lessons that resonate far beyond the rink. Listening to the stories of the sacrifices, long hours, and steadfast support these families poured into helping these men achieve this moment was incredibly moving.

Equally moving was the heartfelt tribute to a beloved teammate the hockey community lost last year. In one of the most emotional moments of the Games, the team invited his children onto the ice during the celebration, ensuring their father’s legacy remained part of the victory. It was a powerful display of unity, compassion, and remembrance. In that moment, the gold medal represented more than athletic achievement; it symbolized brotherhood, loyalty, and the enduring strength of a team that carries one another through both triumph and tragedy.

These Games were more than a tally of medals. They were a showcase of human will of athletes who trained through setbacks, supported one another through intense competition, and brought out the best in themselves and their teammates. Their stories reflect a universal truth: great achievements are born from shared effort, courage under pressure, and the belief that we are stronger together.

As we reflect on these incredible performances, let their grit and teamwork serve as motivation in our own professional challenges. Whether in our daily tasks or larger strategic goals, may we carry the lessons of these Games forward with resilience, collaboration, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

Congratulations to Team USA and to all athletes who inspired the world with their courage and perseverance.

With pride and admiration,
Mark & Julie
