President’s Message:
As the world changes and our workplaces continue to evolve, it is imperative that we adapt, learn, and grow. Consider how much has changed since 2020, when COVID reshaped the way we work and interact with our environments. The workplace has transformed dramatically, and so have the needs and priorities of the architecture and design community. To remain relevant and effective, we must continually pivot, innovate, and embrace new ways of thinking.
This year, Plantscapers was proud to contribute to that ongoing evolution by chairing the Green Plants for Green Buildings booth at the AIA Conference on Architecture & Design 2026 in San Diego one of the industry’s premier events. The conference brought together thousands of architects, designers, and industry professionals to explore emerging trends, discover innovative products and solutions, and engage in conversations shaping the future of the built environment.
Our mission was simple: to educate attendees about the power and importance of biophilic design in today’s built environments. As wellness, sustainability, and occupant experience continue to influence project goals across commercial, healthcare, hospitality, and workplace sectors, biophilic design remains one of the most effective strategies for creating spaces that support both people and performance.
Our booth beautifully showcased the possibilities of incorporating nature indoors, featuring lush living walls, a stunning water feature, vibrant planted containers, and elegant lighting. These elements helped demonstrate the transformative impact that greenery can have on interior spaces. More importantly, they sparked meaningful conversations about how interiorscapers can collaborate with the architecture and design community to successfully bring the outdoors in.
Throughout the event, we shared research-backed benefits of biophilic design, and it was exciting to see attendees genuinely engaged and inspired by the information. Visitors were often surprised to learn how plants can positively impact productivity, well-being, creativity, and overall occupant satisfaction. To help reinforce these ideas, each guest received a small plant to take home a simple reminder of the value that even a little greenery can bring to any environment.
If your team is interested in learning more about the benefits of biophilic design, we would be delighted to help. Whether through a formal CEU presentation or a more informal educational session, we can tailor a program to meet your needs.
