Plantscapers’ Walk for Kids

Walk for Kids

Dear Family and Friends,

As I continue to go through this journey of life, I find myself finding newfound passions, and the desire to “give back” to our industry, and also to local charities that I think make a difference to our community here in Southern California.  One such passion is that I’ve chosen to participate in the 2016 Walk for Kids.  This amazing endeavor is to help raise funds to support sick children and families served by Orange County Ronald McDonald House – a program of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California (RMHCSC).

I am kindly asking for any amount of donation or you can join Plantscapers team to walk for this great cause. (Email me at julie@plantscapers.com if interested in joining our team on the April 3rd walk.) Plantscapers has chosen Ronald McDonald House as our charity of choice and will actively support them throughout the year.

Orange County Ronald McDonald House Living RoomYou may already know that RMHCSC provides comfort and housing in close proximity to hospitals for seriously ill children and their families. In addition, RMHCSC offers other amazing services to help families during a very stressful time in their lives. That is why Walk for Kids is so helpful to keep these services running.

I am so moved by the incredible mission of RMHCSC, especially after meeting the Orange County Ronald McDonald House’s incredibly dedicated director of operations Katie Russell, that I have pledged to raise $1,000.00 for the 2016 Walk For Kids.  100% of the funds I raise will support the life-changing services of RMHCSC and help people like Esmeralda, Elfego and their beautiful daughter Naomi.

Esmeralda and Elfego’s daughter was born two months premature with a host of complications, including a cleft palate that required multiple surgeries and long term care.  The couple didn’t know what to do. They didn’t have a car and lived more than 60 miles away from the Children’s Hospital of Orange County, where their daughter was being treated.

Fortunately, the Ronald McDonald House was there for them. Esmeralda and Elfego made it their “home-away-from-home” while their daughter received necessary care across the street at the hospital. “I don’t have words to express how much the House meant to us,” recalls Esmeralda. Now two years old, Naomi continues to require treatment at CHOC Children’s Hospital and each time Esmeralda and Elfego are welcomed back to the Orange County Ronald McDonald House with open arms.
